Gleann Mòr Colour Palettes
The Gleann Mòr cardigan has one Background Colour and five Contrast Colours. Contrasts 1 & 5 are the most prominent as they are used over more of the rib and chart pattern.
The original Gleann Mòr colour palette (shown above) is designed so that the contrast colours fade away and almost disappear, beginning with the strong, deep Golden Plover, and ending with Lapwing, which is close in shade to the background colour of Calluna.
A colour palette for this design can be choosen to fade away, or to keep a strong contrast throughout. A strong contrast is easier to knit throughout the chart pattern so that should be born in mind.
Below you can see another colour palette in Heroine colours. This palette is a brighter version of the original, swapping out just one colour and fading away at the top.
It uses a Background Colour of Lapwing with Contrast 1 of Whin, Contrast 2 of Golden Plover, Contrast 3 of Corncrake, Contrast 4 of Machair and Contrast 5 of Bogbean.
A rich warm palette with a little more contrast at the top that still keeps the golds uses a Background Colour of Glen with Contrast 1 of Spindrift, Contrast 2 of Fulmar, Contrast 3 of Corncrake, Contrast 4 of Golden Plover and Contrast 5 of Red Deer.
These two palettes show how just swapping out one colour can make a big difference to the overall look. Both use a Background Colour of Sea Ivory, the first with Contrast 1 of Whin, Contrast 2 of Golden Plover, Contrast 3 of Corncrake, Contrast 4 of Fulmar and Contrast 5 of Spindrift. The second has a Contrast 1 of Golden Plover, Contrast 2 of Corncrake, Contrast 3 of Mountain Hare, Contrast 4 of Fulmar and Contrast 5 of Spindrift

The second brings in more purple tones with a Background of Limpet with a Contrast 1 of Wild Orchid, Contrast 2 of Clover, Contrast 3 of Erica, Contrast 4 of Selkie and Contrast 5 of Storm Petrel.
