Birdlife in the Outer Hebrides

Birdlife Inspiration

The natural world is a constant source of design inspiration, and one particular theme we explore a great deal is the birdlife of the Outer Hebrides. From the construction of wings and feathers, to the patterns and colours, and the movement of the birds in flight, there is endless opportunity for observation and design work. This selection of birdlife from sea and shore provides a range of potential inspiration for you to try your own bird swatch. From the impressive silhouette of a sea eagle in flight, to the subtle dark tones of the shags and cormorants, the bright touches of red and orange in the puffins, arctic terns and oystercatchers, the incredible grace of a gannet, and the soft shades of grey and white of the Kittiwakes and gulls, there is plenty of inspiration to be found. You can have a look at the Geometric Swatches page to see what I came up with.
