Colour A is the main colour (shown in Solan Goose in the photographed model); colour B is the main contrast (shown in Mara), and colour C is the accent contrast which replaces colour B wherever you would like to feature it (shown here in Red Rattle on a few body and sleeve stripes and on the rib of one cuff).

The Breton is shown here photographed on Rebecca in foggy conditions (very soft light) with a pair of Wave Gloves, and on Eve in strong sunshine with a Marina Hat Set.
Story
Simple nautical stripes were the hallmark of fishing pullovers from the coast of Brittany and I originally designed Breton as a childs’ gansey and added the original feature of buttoned shoulders extending from a boat-shaped neckline. It is a fresh, lightweight and easy-to-wear design and this time I have worked it for adults in six sizes.
I designed the garment in the gansey style with diamond-shaped underarm gussets. The body is knitted in the round to the armholes and the back and front yokes are knitted back and forth in rows. The sleeves are knitted up from the armholes and worked in the round to the cuffs, so the garment is entirely seamless. The simple Stocking Stitch stripes on the body and sleeves are easy to follow which allows for concentration on maintaining a perfect tension and mastering all the techniques involved in creating this unique design.
The colours used here emphasise the nautical theme with colour C (Red Rattle) used here and there at will. You can personalise your Breton by choosing your own colour scheme and there are many lovely choices you can make. A generous amount of the accent contrast (colour C) is included in the kit so that you can work it in wherever you please. Whatever your choice, you can be sure that this design will add a flourish to your wardrobe.
