Human history is filled with costume, character and events that stir my imagination. Sometimes I find that my thoughts on a particular historical character will determine the design that I create. Examples of this method of working can be seen in Tudor Roses (2013, hardback edition or 2017, paperback edition, both pub. Dover Inc.) which contains fourteen designs inspired by women of the Tudor Dynasty. This book was the result of an exciting collaboration with my daughter Jade who is a photographer, textile designer, stylist, writer and illustrator. Though we each worked separately on our textile designs, we worked closely together to create the content of this book, and collaborated on every aspect of its appearance – from photography to artwork and graphic design.
